Reading and Writing
Build confidence, voice, and fluency with individual attention and thinking strategies. Improve reading and writing basics and achieve higher levels of expression. Active Reading personally engages the student in the text, while a ‘voice-focused’ Narrative Writing helps generate themes and illuminates the telling of one's own story.
The student acts as the narrator, telling his/her story verbally and adds layers of meaning to the text as they arise. Also, through revision, he/she modifies the story’s voice in order to clarify content or enhance listener interest. This is distinguishable from a traditional written format as it offers the student control and confidence in the writing process while also enhancing self-image.
